Today we are gonna edit a RAW DNG file to get this result with the free apps Snapseed and Lightroom.
We are gonna start with the Snapseed app.
After importing the RAW file, you can see a dedicated Develop menu which is
available only for RAW DNG files.
Tapping the Develop menu, these are the sliders we get.
Make sure that we get as many details as possible from the image after finishing
with this menu because later the app acts like we are editing a jpeg file.
So first, I am gonna increase the Exposure a bit for overall brightness.
Next increasing Shadows to get details from the darker parts.
Reducing Highlights to recover details from the brighter areas.
Also to darken the sky a bit in this instance.
Adding some saturation.
Little sharpening with Structure.
Applying it.
Next going to the Selective filters.
First one I am gonna place it on these greens.
Adding saturation.
Also reducing brightness a bit.
One filter on the face where I am gonna increase brightness...
Bit of saturation too.
One in the sky...
Adding some color.
Now I am gonna try darkening the greens in the foreground.
Using Curves, dragging the curve towards right...
Pulling down the top point a bit.
Then with masking, tapping on the Stacks icon, View edits, Curves and Brush.
Here with the effect disabled and with brush value set at 100,
zooming out and brushing on the greens in the foreground to make those parts darker.
This time with Curves, selecting Soft contrast from the presets.
With masking, applying it on and either sides of the subject.
To bring some limelight to eyes,
using the Portrait filter and selecting Eyes 1 preset which gives twinkle to the eyes.
Increasing the clarity of the eyes.
Now to the Brush tool for some selective brushing.
Setting the brush value of Dodge & Burn to -5,
I am gonna zoom in and brush on the eyebrows to make it a bit darker.
Single stroke is enough to get it a little dark.
Also with the brush value at +5, dodging around the eyes to make them a bit more brighter.
You can see a subtle difference.
Also brightening the lips and adding saturation for the reds to pop a bit.
More dodge & burn on the hair to get it a bit more shiny.
Brightening the cheeks too.
Next I am gonna apply Grainy film filter selecting the first preset which works pretty well here.
Reducing the grain effect...
Also the overall style strength.
Going back to the Selective filter to make the sky a bit more darker.
After these changes, I am gonna export this to Lightroom app for mainly color tuning.
Here in Lightroom, first I am gonna increase the Whites and
also reduce the blacks to give overall image some punch.
Now to the HSL sliders in Color menu>Mix.
Moving the green hues towards Aqua.
Also reducing the luminance to make the greens a bit darker.
You also got yellows on the grasses.
Reducing the saturation of it.
Moving to Color grading.
Going to the Highlights option.
Adding orangish tone to the highlights.
Also a bit of blues to the shadows.
Adding overall vibrance.
Now adding some greenish tint.
Also increasing the temperature just a bit.
Next to the Detail menu for some sharpening.
Moving the Masking slider with two fingers to get a nice selection around the edges of the subject.
Increasing the Sharpening on these parts.
Coming to the Curves, tuning the contrast to make the overall image pop a bit.
Little corrections in the Color menu.
The final result here.
